A talk on the Queen's Flotilla

We are delighted that Wayne Bellamy, the RNLI station master at the Pier and one of our trustees, will be giving a talk on the role of the RNLI at this year’s Queen’s Pageant at 7.30pm on Tuesday March 27th, 2012.

The Queen's Jubilee Thames flotilla will be the most extravagant staged in London for 350 years. There are spectacular plans for a 1,000-boat armada on Sunday June 3 next year with up to 30,000 flag waving passengers on the river.

Wayne’s role in the pageant is to help with the creation of the master risk register and then  develop the Search and Rescue Management Plan and it's required resources for  the event - on top of managing the second busiest Lifeboat Station in the UK  and Ireland and preparing for the Olympics.

It is hoped the new £3 million Tamar Class Lifeboat for RNLI Eastbourne Lifeboat  Station, which is to be named "Diamond Jubilee" will predominantly  feature in the pageant.
