In the winter months we have a range of talks about river related topics.

It's a great opportunity to meet people and learn something about the area, its history and the remarkable natural attractions it has to offer.

Talks are free to members or £3 to non-members.

Individual membership - £10 Family membership - £15 Concessions - £3

Membership includes a regular newsletter and a free bottle of wine when you dine at Pissarro’s restaurant.

CPT EVENTS 2013

 

Tuesday January 29th, 7.30pm, a talk on William Morris and his connections to the Thames. Jane Ennis, from the William Morris Society, will talk about “News From Nowhere”, which includes a boat trip down the Thames from his home at Kelmscott House, Hammersmith to Kelmscott Manor, Gloucestershire. Jane will also include information on the work of  his factory near Merton Abbey, which is located on the River Wandle, a tributary of the Thames.

 

Tuesday February 26th, 7.30pm, How new technology is saving lives on the Thames. A talk by Wayne Bellamy, our Station Manager and Holly Phillips, the RNLI’s Principal Naval Architect in Poole and the project manager for the RNLI’s new boat programme.

 

Sunday March 10th,Mothering Day Cruise with optional meal at Pissarro’s.

 

Tuesday March 19th, “The River Thames - Would you drink it?". A talk by marine biologist John Porter on the pumping station at Kew Bridge; why it was built there, why it is still there and what is its future?

 

Sunday March 31st , 4.30pm, the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. The Chiswick Pier Trust will provide a Fullers bar and  barbecue to celebrate.

 

Saturday April 20th,  9.30am, our popular annual guided bird walk with ornithologist Keith Martin. Numbers limited, so booking is essential.

Friday June 14th 7pm, Jazz Cruise with buffet.

Sunday July 28th, Party on the Pier, Chiswick Pier Trust’s annual party celebrating the Thames with stalls, children’s entertainment, a barbecue, Fuller’s bar, live band and free boat trips.

Saturday August 31st 10-11am Great River Swim

Saturday September 7th  Great River Race passing Chiswick Pier at around 1.45pm
